By accessing and using VailNote ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement.

Description of Service

VailNote is a secure, encrypted note-sharing application that allows users to create, share, and automatically delete notes with optional password protection.

User Responsibilities

Content

  • You are solely responsible for all content you create, share, or transmit through VailNote
  • You must not use the Service for any illegal, harmful, or malicious purposes
  • You must not share content that violates applicable laws or infringes on third-party rights
  • You must not attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service

Account Security

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of passwords and authentication keys
  • You must not share access credentials with unauthorized parties
  • You must promptly notify us of any suspected security breaches

Prohibited Uses

You may not use VailNote to:

  • Share illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or other malicious code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

Service Availability

  • VailNote is provided "as is" without guarantees of availability or uptime
  • We may temporarily suspend or terminate the Service for maintenance, updates, or technical issues
  • We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with or without notice

Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Intellectual Property

  • VailNote is open-source software licensed under the MIT License
  • You retain ownership of content you create and share through the Service
  • You grant VailNote a limited license to process and transmit your content solely for providing the Service

Disclaimers

No Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement of third-party rights
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Security or data integrity

Use at Your Own Risk

  • No system is completely secure; use VailNote at your own risk
  • We cannot guarantee the confidentiality or integrity of shared content
  • You assume all risks associated with using the Service

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • VailNote and its developers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages
  • This includes damages for data loss, security breaches, unauthorized access, or any other damages arising from your use of the Service
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for using the Service (which is currently zero as VailNote is free)
